O Sleeper Arise
A Hymn
Awake, O sleeper, and arise, For God the Just is satisfied To look on Him who paid our debt, Casting on Christ our punishment. Awake, O sleeper, and give praise To Him who keeps us all our days Who shelters us beneath His wings; So sing, O sleeper, to the King. Awake, O sleeper, and read the Word Which God has o’er centuries preserved, The lamp which lights our winding path— God’s Holy Word will ever last. Awake, O sleeper, and commune As one, the bride of Christ our Groom; As saints arrayed in robes of white, Sprinkled by the spilled blood of Christ. Awake, O sleeper, and ceaselessly lift Your prayers to God, whose rescue is swift. Though trial and tempting oft fill the night, Our Savior is One who knows our plight. Look, O sleeper, to the skies, Where Christ is risen, seated on high; And soon He will again arrive To take us home, so sleeper, arise!
“for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”’
Ephesians 5:8-14

This is excellent, Jonathan! Now someone in your family just needs to write the music to be able to sing it. ❤️🎶
